Enforcing his commitment to the rule of law as outlined in his 2019 Chakwera super high five agenda, Malawi President Lazarus Chakwera has appointed Justice Lovemore Chikopa as the Deputy Chief Justice of Malawi.
According to a statement issued by the Secretary to the President and Cabinet, Colleen Zamba, this appointment aligns with Section 111 (2) of the Constitution of the Republic of Malawi (Amendment) Act 2021.
This constitutional provision stipulates the appointment process for the Deputy Chief Justice, who is to be appointed by the President upon recommendation from the Judicial Service Commission.
