Traditional Authority Mtema Declares MCP as the Cornerstone of Lilongwe’s Political Landscape

Traditional Authority (T/A) Mtema has proclaimed that the Malawi Congress Party (MCP) holds a unique and significant place in the hearts of the people of Lilongwe, reaffirming the party’s stronghold in the region.

During a voter mobilization rally and whistle-stop tour led by President Lazarus Chakwera at Kafutwe Trading Centre today, T/A Mtema emphasized the MCP’s deep connection with the local populace. She asserted that the party enjoys unparalleled support in Lilongwe, noting that the people’s affection for President Chakwera stems from his commitment to the country’s development, transcending tribes and political affiliation.

“There is no other party here other than MCP. Be assured that come next year, the people of this area will give you more votes,” T/A Mtema declared passionately, signaling her confidence in the party’s prospects in the forthcoming elections.

In response, President Chakwera urged the residents to register in large numbers, stressing the importance of exercising their democratic right to vote in the upcoming general elections. His call to action aimed to mobilize citizens ahead of the electoral process, ensuring that their voices are heard and represented.

Zebron Chilondola, the Central Region Chairman for the MCP, echoed the call for extensive voter registration, urging constituents to participate actively in the electoral process and support President Chakwera.

Local Member of Parliament Gladwell Chimdzeka also commended President Chakwera for the various development projects initiated in the region, highlighting tangible improvements that resonate with the community.

As the countdown to the general elections begins, T/A Mtema’s endorsement of the MCP and President Chakwera solidifies their position as leading figures in Lilongwe’s political arena, potentially influencing voter turnout and support as the nation prepares for the polls.
