Southern Region Experiences Forecasted Heavy Rains: Meteorological Accuracy Confirmed

Kachiwanda

The Department of Climate Change and Meteorological Services’ forecast of substantial rainfall in the southern region, encompassing the Shire Valley, is now unfolding as heavy downpours have commenced.

According to Yobu Kachiwanda, the department’s spokesperson, the intense rains are expected to extend to central and northern areas, setting the stage for flash floods driven by a convergence of the Congo air mass and the Inter Tropical Convergence Zone.

“The Shire Valley is still dry, but from this afternoon on, people should expect heavy rains apart from Blantyre, Chiradzulu, Mwanza, Mulanje, Phalombe, and other districts,” said Kachiwanda.
