Pres. Chakwera commissions officer cadets from Malawi, Zambia, Zimbabwe Kenya, Mozambique & Eswatani

Malawi President Lazarus McCarthy Chakwera who is also Commander-in-Chief of the Malawi Defence Force has advised newly commissioned Officer Cadets to serve with faithfulness.

Addressing the assembly at the commissioning ceremony of the Cadets at the Malawi Armed Forces College in Salima, Chakwera lauded the perseverance of the 81 graduates hailing from Malawi, Zambia, Tanzania, Zimbabwe, Kenya, Mozambique, and Eswatini.

President Chakwera underscored the significance of faithfulness in service and urged the graduates to be exemplars who inspire those around them to attain their potential.

The President further reiterated his government’s commitment to advancing the welfare of men and women in uniform and encouraged the Defence Force to adopt a spirit of self-reliance. The ceremony encompassed parade marches, a proclamation of commissioning, swearing of the oath of allegiance, presentation of the sword of honor, and speeches.

General Vincent Nundwe, Commander of the Malawi Defence Force, asserted that the trust these countries have in Malawi is evidenced by their decision to send their trainees to the nation.

Harry Mkandawire, Minister of Defence, stated that the graduation demonstrated the amicable relationship that Malawi maintains with her neighbors.

Mkandawire also expressed gratitude towards the Chakwera administration for continuously providing support to the Defence Forces.

The occasion signifies a notable milestone in the careers of these Officer Cadets and highlights President Chakwera’s unwavering commitment to bolstering the Malawi Defence Forces.
