Presidential Charity Initiative Golf Tournament is a president Chakwera Initiative aimed at supporting underprivileged students in the country plus supporting education infrastructure. Quite a noble undertaking.
Today at Kamuzu Palace, the President unveiled NBS Bank as the diamond sponsor of this year’s Presidential Charity Initiative Golf Tournament slated for October 11 and 12 this year at Limbe Country Club.
According to the President, the commercial bank has contributed MK155 million towards this noble cause which continues to transform Malawi through advancement of academic endeavours for underprivileged yet deserving students and rehabilitation of communities affected by natural disasters.
“I am delighted that only in its third year, the initiative has established worthy footprint. You may recall that just recently we gave each of the six public universities K37.5 million while K225 million went towards construction of Mpatsa Primary School which was completely destroyed by Cyclone Freddy. It is my desire that we raise more from this year’s tournament to upscale the impact,” said the President.
He added:
“ Thank you NBS Bank for this thoughtful gesture. So too with all stakeholders who have already committed to support this initiative this year.”
