Nankhumwa lambasted for Malawi-Israel ‘war ‘plane allegations

Kondwani Nankhumwa: Leader of Opposition

Speaker of the National Assembly, Catherine Gotani Hara yesterday ruled Member of Parliament for Mulanje Central who is also Leader of the Opposition in Parliament, Kondwani Nankhumwa to provide her office with evidence on the serious allegations Nankhumwa made in Parliament that some Malawians will be going to Israel to work in estates and others to join war.

The ruling came in on following his serious allegation on the two matters in Parliament which drew tension and debate before he was asked to withdraw, a thing Nankhumwa denied to do.

In his allegation Nankhumwa said; “There is a plane coming to Malawi from Israel registered as a cargo plane but will carry 221 Malawians to Israel. Some say they want to work in Estates, while some say they will join Israel Palestinian war”

The allegation sent the House in disagreement as it did not go down well with government side which argued that the rules of the House do not provide debate or any deliberation on rumors as put by Nankhumwa.

Taking the floor on the matter Minister of Foreign Affairs, Nancy Tembo concurred with the Leader of the House in demanding evidence from Nankhumwa whole describing the conduct by the Member as irresponsible and dangerous to the nation.

Sensing the consequences of the matter if he fails to provide evidence to his allegation, Nankhumwa alleged the two to be schools of thoughts so that no demand of evidence is evicted on him.

However, after time of disagreements between the two sides, Speaker of the National Assembly, Catherine Gotani Hara ruled that Honorable Member withdraws his allegations or commits to provide the House with evidence on Monday, the allegations Nankhumwa challenged not to withdraw.
