Mkaka Challenges DPP to Tell Malawians the Truth on Chilima Plane Crash

Lilongwe — Member of Parliament for Lilongwe Mpenu, Eisenhower Mkaka, has challenged the new Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) government to show Malawians the truth about the tragic plane crash that claimed the life of former Vice President Dr. Saulos Chilima and others.

Mkaka said this is the right time for the DPP to stop making political noise about the accident and instead take real action.

“If the DPP truly believes there was something suspicious, then now is their chance to prove it,” Mkaka said. “They are in government. Let them open a new inquiry and show Malawians the truth. If not, they should stop misleading people and forever keep quiet.”

He added that, based on previous investigations, the crash was found to have been an accident, not foul play. Mkaka expressed disappointment that some DPP officials have continued using the tragedy to gain political sympathy instead of respecting the findings of the three official reports that were already released.

“It was an accident — unless the DPP has new evidence. They promised to bring justice, so let them start their own investigation and tell Malawians exactly what happened,” he said.

Mkaka said it is sickening that the issue is being politicized instead of handled with respect for the families of those who lost their lives.

The remarks come amid renewed public debate as the DPP returns to power, with some of its supporters insisting that the official reports on the crash were not credible.

Mkaka, however, said the time for rumors is over — and the new government must either act or remain silent.

“They are in charge now,” he said. “They have no excuse.”
