Ministry of Agriculture Applauds Saudi Arabia for K150 Million Fertilizer Donation

The Ministry of Agriculture has expressed its appreciation for the support provided by the Saudi Arabian Government to the Malawi Government. Dixie Kampani, the Principal Secretary of the Ministry of Agriculture, said this while accepting a donation of fertilizer and maize seeds from the Government of Saudi Arabia through the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Centre yesterday during a ceremony held at the Ministry of Agricultural Offices located at Capitol Hill.

Upon receiving the donation, Kampani noted that it arrives at a crucial time as it will assist families severely affected by Cyclone Freddy. She also stated that the Ministry plans to utilize the fertilizer to support farmers involved in winter cropping as a means to enhance the current crop yield.

The donation comprises 50 metric tonnes of UREA, 50 metric tonnes of NPK, and 1000 metric tonnes of seeds, each weighing approximately 10 kg.

Kampani went on to emphasize that the Affordable Inputs Program (AIP) is currently in an advanced stage of implementation.
