Minister Uchizi says Chakwera’s ATM Strategy Key to Boosting Tourism Development in Malawi

Minister Uchizi Mkandawire, representing Tourism Minister Vera Kamtukule, emphasized the pivotal role of tourism in the government’s Agriculture, Tourism, and Mining (ATM) strategy.

Speaking at the Bingu International Convention Centre (BICC) in Lilongwe during the celebration of Satguru Travel Group’s 35 years of service, Mkandawire underscored the government’s dedication to accelerating tourism growth. He highlighted the increased budget allocation to the Ministry of Tourism for the 2024/2025 fiscal year, aimed at bolstering both the tourism and wildlife sectors.

Mkandawire lauded Satguru for its remarkable contributions to Malawi’s tourism sector. In turn, Satguru’s Malawi Branch Manager, Swapnil Karkhile, praised the Ministry of Tourism for its unwavering commitment to fostering tourism growth.

“As a company, we commend Ministry of Tourism for its active role in ensuring that the sector is revived,” said Karkhile. Satguru Travel Group was established in 1989 in Kigali, Rwanda.

In Malawi, the organization started its operations in 2011 and so far, the company has won over 15 world travel awards. Satguru Malawi has been leading in the travel agency awards in 2022 and 2023.
