MCP Rolls Into Dowa With Political Fireworks as Finance Minister Drums Up Support for Chakwera

Chithyola

In a fiery show of political force, the ruling Malawi Congress Party (MCP) stormed into the heart of Mndolera in Dowa today, with none other than Finance Minister Simplex Chithyola Banda leading the charge. The gathering, styled as a grassroots appreciation rally, took place at Mlengwe Primary School—but make no mistake, this was no ordinary meet-and-greet.

The event was masterminded by the area’s Member of Parliament, Dr. Abel Kayembe, who said the rally was a gesture of gratitude to the constituents who backed him in the recent by-election. But politics is never just about thank-yous.

In a rousing speech soaked with party loyalty and future promises, Minister Chithyola Banda made an impassioned plea to voters: come 2025, rally behind President Lazarus Chakwera. “This is your government. This is your future,” he declared, warning that turning away from MCP would be a vote against development itself.

The high-powered entourage included Deputy Speaker of Parliament Madalitso Kazombo, Tourism Minister Vera Kamtukule, and MCP Central Region Chairperson Zebron Chilondola—sending a clear message that the party is rolling into 2025 with all guns blazing and no plans of slowing down.

With speeches, songs, and political spectacle, today’s rally was more than a campaign pitstop—it was the opening act of a political drama that’s only just heating up.
