M’baluku earned a reputation comparable to the modern-day Msundwe during the prime of the UDF era. However, the powerful Malawi Congress Party (MCP) has managed to infiltrate the traditionally strong support base of the UDF and has fostered a connection with the longstanding UDF loyalist region.
The ruling MCP, led by Youth Director Richard Chimwendo Banda and Secretary General Eisenhower Mkaka, along with local figure Gerald Kazembe, organized a rally at St Augustine 2 ground. This rally garnered the attendance of quite a multitude, demonstrating their affection for Malawi’s leader Lazarus Chakwera and his Malawi Congress Party.
Addressing the assembled crowds, Chimwendo conveyed that the government intends to distribute maize to all ADMARC depots, urging people not to be anxious. He appealed to the public to cast their votes for Chakwera in the upcoming 2025 elections, as well as to support a candidate named Mwase for the area’s Member of Parliament position.
