Maranatha Academy Honors PSLCE Top Performer with 1 Million Kwacha Prize

Kaonga

Maranatha Academy has committed to granting a cash reward of one million Malawian Kwacha to Alinafe Chulu, who emerged as the top achiever in this year’s Primary School Leaving Certificate of Education (PSLCE) Examination results. Chulu, a 12-year-old student, was previously enrolled at Playdor Private School located in Blantyre.

This decision marks a departure from the Academy’s customary practice of presenting cash prizes to exceptional candidates who have taken the Junior Certificate of Education (JCE) and Malawi School Certificate of Education (MSCE) exams, both from public and private educational institutions.

Enerst Kaonga, the Managing Director of the institution, explained that the Academy’s choice to honor Chulu aligns with its commitment to advance the cause of educating girls.

“We feel proud in promoting girl-child education and having noted that this year, it’s a female student who is the overall performer, we said why can’t we encourage her with an award?

“So we are presenting her with K1 million as a token of appreciation and to inspire her to work extra hard. We know that this award will also enhance competition among learners in standard eight in the country,” said Kaonga.

He further disclosed that Chulu’s accolade will be presented in the near future during an event in Lilongwe, where 13 exceptional candidates from this year’s MSCE exam results will also be recognized.

“We have sent 342 to various universities this year. It calls for a celebration, hence the Maranatha Academy Heroes Party at the BICC in Lilongwe on August 25,” said Kaonga.
