Malawi’s Vice President Michael Usi has issued a bone-chilling warning to all civil servants telling them to deliver results or face the axe.
Usi has branded civil servants as the weakest link in the government, accusing them of rampant looting through dubious allowances and blatant laziness, all while the Malawian populace suffers.
During an unannounced visit to the Thyolo District Council, Usi caught these idle civil servants off guard. His surprise inspection revealed that some council work, including crucial training sessions, had not been documented, much to his fury.
The Vice President was also not pleased when learnt that members of Parliament in Thyolo are not fully utilising the Constituency Development Fund (CDF) to develop their constituencies saying this is doing a disservice to the Malawian people.
In true grassroots fashion, Usi then ventured into the local markets of Thyolo and Limbe, purchasing everyday goods and mingling with market vendors. He announced that President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera has approved his proposal to provide them with loans, requiring no collateral at all.
