Malawi President Chakwera Receives $150,000 Excavator Gift from Chinese Group Sany

Chakwera

Malawi’s President, Dr. Lazarus McCarthy Chakwera, oversaw the official transfer ceremony of a $150,000 excavator donated by the Chinese Group, Sany, at Kamuzu Palace in Lilongwe on Monday evening. This excavator donation stemmed from a commitment made by Sany officials during President Chakwera’s visit to their facilities in Changsha, Hunan Province, in June of the previous year. This visit was part of his efforts to secure various investments and resources to accelerate Malawi’s industrialization goal for the year 2063.

During his historic visit to China, where he was invited as a Guest of Honor by the Chinese Government, President Chakwera also inaugurated the first Malawian Consulate in the city of Changsha. This consulate is expected to facilitate trade and investment, further strengthening the relationship between Malawi and China, as demonstrated during this event.
