Malawi President Lazarus Chakwera has shown serious commitment in improving justice delivery system in the country.

“I have presided over the swearing in ceremony of newly-appointed Justices of the High Court, who this great nation has trusted with the noble task of dispensing justice to its citizens. This addition to the judicial system brings to light our commitment to promote Rule of Law as a bedrock of good governance,” said the President.

He added:

“I have advised the new High Court justices to always uphold what is fair according to law and what is factual according to evidence in their discharge of duties. Their task is to advocate best practices as entailed by Judiciary standards on top of other personal attributes like good systemic organisation and temperament.”

According to the President, his “administration remains dedicated to coordinate with relevant authorities in the appointment of adequate personnel within the Judiciary framework to ensure that the conveyor of Malawi’s justice is always moving in a timely and unbiased manner.”

The swearing-in ceremony was attended by Minister of Justice Titus Mvalo, Chief Justice Rezine Mzikamanda, Secretary to the President and Cabinet (SPC) Colleen Zamba, along with several senior government officials. The newly sworn-in judges include two men and two women: Justice Kondwani Banda, Justice Madalitso Chimwaza, Justice Trouble Kalua, and Justice Edna Bodole.
