Malawi face Egypt Today at Bingu Stadium; Supporters fear for Flames familiar story

Peter Banda training ahead of Flames game this afternoon

The Malawi national Team, the Flames, will face the Pharaohs of Egypt this afternoon in a return match having being beaten two goals to nil in Cairo last Friday.

The Flames were not inspiring in that game. They looked timid and conceded an unnecessary second goal. Football pundits think today’s match this afternoon will not attract many supporters save those English Premier League soccer fanatics and Liverpool supporters who might want to catch a glimpse of Mohammed Salah.

Mario Marinica’s fast and furious football philosophy appears has taken Malawi nowhere as there is not any future that the Malawi football seem to have now.

“It is highly unlikely Malawi will qualify for AFCON this time around because it looks like there is enthusiasm both from players as well from the Coach,” said John Mchenga, a flames supporter from Area 25 in the capital Lilongwe.

Malawi at least needs a win or a draw in tomorrow’s encounter if it is to continue having serious prospects of qualifying. Can it secure a draw or a win? We all wait to see.
