Machinga MP  arrested for ‘burn MCP supporters’ bellicose rhetoric

The Malawi Police have arrested the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) Eastern Region Governor, Daudi Chikwanje, who also serves as a Member of Parliament for Machinga for inciting violence. He called upon DPP followers in Machinga to be burning anyone wearing MCP regalia.

Chikwanje’s awful sentiments, captured in a viral video, have sent shockwaves across the nation, leaving the public flabbergasted.

In the clip, this DPP official brazenly calls for violence, urging the masses to burn anyone wearing the ruling Malawi Congress Party (MCP) t-shirt or regalia to ashes. He incited chaos in Nsanama, imploring residents to rise up and unleash terror upon MCP supporters.

In response to this inflammatory rhetoric, the police wasted no time in apprehending the savage Chikwanje.

During a press conference at MCP headquarters in Lilongwe, Secretary General Richard Chimwendo Banda lambasted the DPP, demanding Chikwanje’s immediate dismissal from his party position. Should the DPP fail to act, Banda warned that the party’s inaction would signal its complicity in the violent outburst.

“It’s the end for Chikwanje’s political future. He will be arrested and he will be convicted for he has no defence whatsoever to get him off the-hook,” said a legal commentator on condition of anonymity.
