Once basking in the glow of a close camaraderie, Peter Mutharika and business magnate Leston Muli now find themselves at bitter odds, no longer seeing eye to eye.
It has come to light that Leston Muli is vehemently opposed to the proposal for APM to be the party’s torchbearer in 2025. Instead, the outspoken Muli is fervently championing former Reserve Bank Governor Kabambe as the DPP’s presidential candidate.
Muli’s glaring absence at the DPP’s fundraising luncheon at PAGE House in Mangochi spoke volumes, as did Kabambe’s decision to snub the event.
According to inside sources, Dalitso Kabambe is contemplating leading UTM, aiming to replace the strongman Saulos Chilima, who tragically died in a plane crash in June. The move is coming as the chances for Kabambe to lead DPP is almost zero with Peter Mutharika bullying his way to lead the party in next year’s election.
