His Excellency, Advocate Duma Gabriel Boko, President of the Republic of Botswana says he has confidence that President Dr. Lazarus McCarthy Chakwera has what it takes to transform Malawi to levels that it ought to be.

President Boko made the remarks on Sunday at Bingu National Stadium in the City of Lilongwe, during the commemoration of Malawi’s 61 years of independence anniversary celebrations.
In his remarks, Boko said Malawi is not where it ought to be in terms of development but he expressed trust that President Chakwera’s administration has the capacity to take Malawi out of various social and economic ills.
On this note, President Boko while wishing Malawians peaceful general elections on September 16th this year, reiterated the need for full independence and sovereignty of Malawi and all African countries.
Speaking earlier, President Chakwera called on Malawians to carry out all their duties with integrity. He condemned the destruction of public facilities such as road signs, theft of public money, theft of medicine in hospitals saying the tendencies retards national development.

On this note, the Malawi leader advised Malawians to avoid talking ill about their own country.
In his speech, Chairperson of the Ministerial Committee of the Malawi’s 61st Independence Day celebrations, Minister of Homeland and Security, Ezekiel Ching’oma, has expressed his gratitude to the President for his role in fostering prosperity and driving various achievements in the country.
“This anniversary fosters unity and highlights the progress our country is making. Despite many challenges, the President has played a steadfast role in uplifting Malawi,” Ching’oma said.
