Haters Gonna Hate, Dan Lu Gets the Bag!— MK11 Million Copyright Fund Sparks Jealousy Storm in Entertainment Circles

By Shire Times Entertainment Desk

Lilongwe – Superstar singer and certified crowd-puller Daniel Lufani, a.k.a. Dan Lu, is laughing all the way to the bank—MK11 million richer—thanks to his successful pitch to the Copyright Fund. But not everyone is clapping. In fact, some are busy choking on sour grapes, and the internet streets have never been busier.

Dan Lu, known for his stage flair and chart-topping bangers, has secured the lucrative grant for his upcoming creative venture dubbed “The Dan Lu Talk Show.” According to COSOMA, Dan’s proposal was so convincing, even the fund managers probably clapped when they signed the cheque.

“We are cooking something big!!” he teased his fans on Facebook, dripping with excitement. “Zikomo kwambiri Copyright Fund for believing and supporting my project!”

But not everyone is celebrating. Enter the Anonymous Whiners Club—a band of bitter artists who didn’t apply, didn’t qualify, and are now crying foul. One of them, speaking to Shire Times on condition of anonymity (probably hiding from the embarrassment), muttered:

“Yes, Dan Lu is a musician. He’s good, no doubt. But the guy actually applied. That’s what people forget! He either knows how to write a proposal, or he’s smart enough to get help. That’s how you win—not by crying on Facebook!”

Ouch. Shots fired and they landed.

As if to rub it in, the musician clapped back at the politicizing crowd:

“Some are linking it to politics, but it’s neither here nor there. The Copyright Fund Managers reviewed actual applications. Did they want to go knocking on doors begging people to submit proposals?”

Mic drop.

According to COSOMA, Dan Lu wasn’t the only beneficiary. He was among 17 successful creatives who responded to the 5th Call for Proposals, which supports projects promoting creativity, culture, and copyright awareness. Other winning projects include Simakweli’s School of Music, Likoma Secondary School Cultural Festival, Che Mandota, and Protect Your Hustle, among others.

In a statement, COSOMA said:

“These projects reflect the depth, diversity, and dynamism of Malawian creativity… We congratulate all the beneficiaries for their innovative ideas and commitment to growing Malawi’s creative industry.”

So, to the haters: maybe instead of throwing shade, you should throw in a proposal next time. As Dan Lu just proved, talent plus paperwork equals funding. And no, tears of envy aren’t a valid application method.

Stay tuned for “The Dan Lu Talk Show”—because if the drama off-stage is this juicy, imagine what’s coming to the screen.
