Fuel supply improves as govt settles suppliers’ debts

Government has finally settled outstanding debts to fuel suppliers, Shire Times understands. Following this development, a turnaround in fuel supply has been registered, with reports indicating a significant improvement in fuel availability, particularly petrol.

A snap survey conducted across major filling stations in the capital city, including Total, Petroda, and various Puma gas locations, revealed that they are now adequately stocked, alleviating fears of a renewed fuel crisis.

The long queues that have become a distressingly common sight at filling stations over the week are now dwindling, replaced by the relieved expressions of drivers who can access fuel without the previous hassle. “It’s a huge relief,” said one motorist at a Total station. “The long waits and uncertainty had been stressful, and we hope the government can keep this momentum going. Paying off the suppliers was a critical step.”

Government officials confirmed that the recent settlement of debts to fuel suppliers has played a pivotal role in restoring confidence in the supply chain. By addressing the financial burdens faced by these suppliers, the administration has not only stabilized the immediate situation but also signaled a commitment to maintaining a reliable fuel supply moving forward.

“This development is a clear indication of our government’s dedication to ensuring that essential services are uninterrupted,” said a spokesperson from the Ministry of Energy. “We understand the struggles that our citizens have faced during the shortages, and we are committed to preventing similar situations in the future.”

Some members of the public still urge the government to remain vigilant and proactive in managing fuel supplies and pressures from international oil markets.

For now, the streets of Lilongwe are bustling with activity as motorists fill their tanks with ease, reflecting hope for a smoother driving experience ahead. With this newfound availability, the city looks forward to a sustained period of stability, urging all stakeholders to collaborate in preserving this significant advancement.
