Fuel Panic Fizzles: MERA Shuts Down DPP Price Hike Rumors

Attempts by opposition elements to stir panic among Malawian motorists have fallen flat, as the Malawi Energy Regulatory Authority (MERA) announced that there will be no changes to the current fuel prices. This decision comes in response to widespread rumors of potential price increases. In an official statement released on Wednesday, MERA assured the public that the prices per litre for petroleum products would remain stable.

“The current rates are Petrol at K2,530, Diesel at K2,734, and Paraffin at K1,910.,” reads the statement.

MERA has encouraged the public to dismiss any conflicting reports and reassured that it will continue to keep stakeholders and the general public updated on any energy regulation developments through official communication channels.
