Former Malawi President Peter Mutharika, who is President of the main opposition Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) says is yet to make up his mind about whether to run for the 2025 presidential election.
He said this during a press conference he addressed in his Mangochi’s PAGE House.
Mutharika said he is receiving calls from various sectors of the nation, religious leaders, and chiefs, for him to consider running again.
“I have not made up my mind. If I do, I will let the nation know,” Mutharika said in a response typical of an African politician’s response to a yes.
Mutharika who said will be celebrating his 82nd Birthday on Monday will be 85 if he decides to contest for the said 2025 elections.
Malawians believe Peter Mutharika has passed his prime time and it will be seen if he will unseat Chakwera shall he decides to run again in 2025.
Some of the notable faces present at the news conference are; the Party’s Vice President for the Eastern Region Honorable Bright Msaka, Central Region Vice President Zeria Chakale, DPP Director of Legal Affairs Charles Mhango, Honorable Dr. George Chaponda, DPP Regional Governor for the South, Honorable Charles Mchacha including DPP’s Presidential spokesperson Honorable Shadric Namalomba.
