Former Attorney General and Justice Minister Raphael Kasambara has been laid to rest at his home village in Nkhatabay District, with numerous notable figures commemorating him as a “law warrior.”
Speaking at the burial ceremony, Malawi Law Society representative, lawyer Victor Gondwe, emphasized that beyond his legal acumen, Kasambara was a staunch advocate for the right to justice.
Echoing Gondwe’s sentiments, lawyer and fellow former Attorney General, Kalekeni Kaphale, reminisced about their days as classmates and colleagues, noting that Kasambara was a mentor who inspired hard work and faith.
Kaphale also called on parents and guardians nationwide to nurture their children to help them achieve their dreams.
Supreme Court Judge Dingiswayo Madise, representing the Chief Justice, remarked that the judiciary has lost a “law warrior” who fought for justice with integrity and faithfulness.
Professor John Kalenga Sanga, chairperson of Mdauku wa ATonga, a cultural group for the Tonga people in Nkhata-Bay, praised the government for its support and urged it to consider constructing proper mausoleums for esteemed individuals like Kasambara.
