Former President Joyce Banda emphasized that women possess natural skills in conflict resolution and should be given opportunities to apply them in preventing conflicts and promoting peace in Malawi and across Africa.
Banda made these remarks in Lilongwe during the launch of the Network of African Women in Conflict Prevention and Mediation (FemWise – Africa) Malawi chapter, facilitated by the African Union Southern Regional Office (AU-SARO).
The former President also stressed the importance of providing financial support to ensure that the initiative can reach women in remote areas and encourage their participation. The Guest of Honor at the event was the Minister of Local Government, Unity, and Culture, Richard Chimwendo Banda.
