The opposition’s antics have hit a new low with their latest fabrication: spreading the false rumor that the Electricity Supply Corporation of Malawi (ESCOM) has hiked electricity tariffs.
But ESCOM has swiftly debunked these baseless claims, slamming them as nothing but deceptive propaganda.
In a statement issued on Monday, ESCOM declared, “There has been no change in electricity tariffs, despite the recent currency devaluation of the Malawi Kwacha.”
Furthermore, ESCOM assured the public that any adjustments to the tariff, if effected having, will be transparently communicated to citizens as they always do.
