Cut the crap and stop double standards: what is wrong is wrong!

Something barbaric has occurred: an MCP vehicle was ambushed, stoned, and destroyed by opposition operatives on its way to a rally in Nselema, Machinga.

And yet, some people are strangely silent. Those who are usually loud on social media? Quiet. Even the so-called human rights activists? Nowhere to be found. They can’t bring themselves to condemn this barbaric behavior. They are celebrating silently. But just wait.

The moment someone in Lilongwe or Dowa retaliates by damaging a DPP vehicle, social media will explode. “MCP this, MCP that.” And those human rights activists? Suddenly, they’ll have plenty to say. The hypocrisy is blatant.

And then we observed someone calling himself a Governance Expert (Wonderful Nkhutche) putting his foot in his mouth and peddle some nonsense claiming that the violence in the South is perpetuating because Government did not condemn a similar incident in Lilongwe. Cut that crap! To begin with, Government loudly condemned that incident.

Regardless, it is important for Malawian to note that this is not how we can build our country. We can’t move forward with double standards. What’s wrong is wrong, no matter who does it. You must face the reality: President Lazarus Chakwera stands a strong chance of winning again when he faces the aging Peter Mutharika in September. We don’t want to see this country torn apart because of biased outrage.

It’s time to accept that this is a competition, and the people will decide. Don’t let your double standards fuel chaos. Let’s build a country based on fairness, not selective outrage.
