As Chakwera’s administration continues to deliver on both new and existing infrastructure projects, a purpose-built commercial court complex is nearing completion with utilities installations among other final touch-ups remaining.
Vice-President Michael Usi toured the complex today, expressing commitment to expedite its opening for operations.
Speaking after visiting the building, Usi said he will meet all stakeholders involved so that the Commercial Court Division should start operating from the new office premises.
High Court Commercial Division Judge in-charge Justice Chifundo Kachale said the building is 98 percent complete with only final electrical installations remaining.
Kachale admitted that the High Court Commercial Division in Blantyre has no workspace and this has stalled hundreds of cases at the court.
“We have been able to conduct some mediation cases through Zoom but there are cases that require physical presence and for those, it has been difficult,” said Kachale.
