Chilondola Predicts Smooth Path for Chakwera in 2025; Slams Chaotic Opposition

Lazarus Chakwera

Addressing a development rally convened subsequent to President Lazarus Chakwera inaugurating the restoration of Kamuzu Dam 1 in Malingunde’s Kalonga ground, Lilongwe, Zebuloni Chilondola, the Malawi Congress Party (MCP) regional governor for the Central region, voiced his belief in Chakwera and the MCP’s prospects for winning the 2025 general elections. He asserted that the attendees at the rally, due to MCP’s strong influence in Lilongwe, represented potential MCP votes.

Chilondola, while acknowledging the challenges faced by Chakwera’s presidency, stressed that the substantial turnout at the rally underscored unwavering public support for the Malawi leader. He commended Chakwera’s dedication to nationwide development initiatives, exemplified by his undertaking of the dam rehabilitation project.

In a swipe at the opposition, Chilondola rebuked them for their internal disputes and expulsions within their respective political parties, juxtaposing this against the MCP’s solidarity. This critique was directed at the former ruling Democratic Progressive Party (DPP), which reportedly experienced internal conflicts involving their southern region President, Kondwani Nankhumwa.
