The 2024 Umthetho cultural festival is in full swing at Hora Mountain, where King Mbelwa V of the Ngoni People in Mzimba is leading the celebration of Ngoni heritage. This year, Mbelwa V is also marking a decade on the throne, an occasion highlighted by the presence of Ngoni Chiefs from Zululand in South Africa, as well as from Zambia and Tanzania.
During the event, Mbelwa expressed his gratitude to President Chakwera and his administration for extending VVIP treatment to his esteemed guests. He noted that when he attended a similar event in South Africa, he received the same high level of hospitality from the South African government. Mbelwa appreciated that the Malawian government has reciprocated this gesture for his foreign dignitaries.
This demonstration of President Chakwera’s respect and affection for the people of Mzimba serves as a powerful indicator of the potential support they might show him in the upcoming 2025 elections.
