Blantyre came alive on Monday evening as a massive crowd gathered at Kameza Roundabout to welcome President Dr. Lazarus McCarthy Chakwera in a grand and emotional style.
Men, women, and young people filled the streets, dancing and singing songs of praise for the President as his convoy slowly entered the city. Dressed in Malawi Congress Party colours, some knelt down, others waved flags, while many just shouted his name with joy and excitement.
President Chakwera, who arrived through Chileka International Airport, is in Blantyre for several important duties. But the people made it clear: this was more than a welcome—it was a loud message of love, support, and trust in his leadership.
He was received by top government officials, including Minister of Water and Sanitation Hon. Abida Sidik Mia and Minister of Local Government Hon. Richard Chimwendo Banda. Traditional chiefs and business leaders also came to show their respect.
One supporter shouted, “Chakwera is the hope of Malawi! He is the father we’ve been waiting for!” Another said, “We trust him because he leads with wisdom and a clean heart.”
As the sun set over the city, it was clear—Blantyre had spoken. The people still believe in Chakwera. Like a good shepherd who never abandons his flock, the President continues to walk with his people, giving them faith that Malawi is moving forward.
