Nankhumwa to Contest Presidency at DPP’s Weekend Convention

Nankhumwa; DPP Presidential Candidate

Currently, intense political upheaval is unfolding within the opposition Democratic Progressive Party. Factions led by Kondwani Nankhumwa and Grizelda Jeffrey are engaged in a strategic power struggle against the faction led by Peter Mutharika, Namalomba, and other fellow old guards.

The Grizelda Jeffrey camp is moving swiftly and is being on the side of the law by announcing plans for a party elective conference to comply with a court-mandated order for elections within 90 days. They have scheduled the convention on 16th December, 2023. In contrast, the old guards’ faction is resistant to court directives and reluctant to adhere to the court’s order.

Meanwhile, Kondwani Nankhumwa has officially declared his candidacy for the position of President of the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP).

“Today I want to officially announce my interest to contest in the forthcoming coming party national convention, which will be held very shortly,” he said.
