Tanzania’s warmth all over as it sends Malawi support towards cyclone Freddy victims

Tanzania from the days of Mwalimu Nyerere has been standing with the vulnerable providing shelter and support to groups seeking the liberation of their own countries. The late Nelson Mandela and the likes of Jacob Zuma of the ANC can testify. The spirit lives on through the present leader Samia Suluhu as the disaster that Cyclone Freddy has occasioned on Malawians has prompted Tanzania to come to the aid of Malawi in cash as well as in kind.

The High Commission of Tanzania in a statement announced the aid package. In solidarity with Malawi, a generous contribution of cash and supplies for humanitarian assistance worth one Million United States dollars has been sent to Malawi. The diplomatic cable also states that Tanzania has sent two military Heavy Helicopters to support rescue exercise and provision of humanitarian assistance to the affected people.

The supplies for humanitarian assistance include mattresses, tents, blankets, and about 100 metric tons of maize flower.
