Malawi President has told the nation that his promise to end hunger and improve agricultural productivity through mechanisation is coming to fruition. The president said this on Thursday when he launched the Malawi Agricultural Mechanisation Initiative. According to the president, this milestone initiative grants mega farmers access to modern farming equipment to help them increase profitability.
“We appreciate the partnerships realised with the private sector – Pyxus Agriculture Malawi and Phillip Morris International, who are giving local mechanised farming services to entrepreneurs.
The newly-commissioned tractor loan facility has today benefited the first 23 farmers of the many yet to come. It is through facilities like these that Malawi will build a viable agriculture-driven economy, “said Chakwera.
